Small shrubs with rhizomes; stems villose when young, 30–100 cm tall.
Leaves elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, 6–12 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, apex acute, villose on both surfaces; petioles 0.7–1.5 cm long, villose.
Inflorescences umbellate, terminating branches with 1 or 2 smaller Leaves at apex; peduncles villose. Flowers light purple or pink; calyx lobes triangular-lanceolate, acuminate, villose; corolla lobes broadly ovate, punctate, glabrous.
Fruit globose, red.
